On African Futurism & the Entangled Time Tree

Geci is based in Johannesburg, South Africa where she currently serves as a mother, spouse, and an Associate Professor at the University of Witwatersrand based at the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies. Her work spans the fields of governance, anticipation, and innovation, grounded in her interest in the intersections between people, place, time and technological change. Geci additionally serves in various international capacities, including roles with the postactivist movement Dancing With Mountains; the African Centre for Cities (Adjunct Professor); the School of International Futures (Principal); and the Southern African Node of the Millennium Project (Founding Director). Geci is the ICESCO Chair on Innovation and Futures in Africa, and a Desmond Tutu African Leadership Fellow.
