On the Culture of Obedience
Jara, German-Lebanese writer, performer, and anthropologist, is interested in violence - how it is justified and how it can be ended. Jara writes plays, poems, essays, and short stories in German and English, interwoven with Lebanese Arabic. Her first play, Baba Dein Herz, premiered on July 4, 2025, at the BRUX Freies Theater Innsbruck. Her article, "Culture of Obedience: How German art institutions preemptively shut down dissent about Palestine," will be published in the anthology "Voices from the Belly of the Beast" at the end of 2025. Jara studies dramatic writing at the UdK Berlin.
