Mirri Glasson-Darling lives in Glasgow, Scotland where she moved from Alaska. She has have received a “Notable Essay” in Best American Essays, a Pushcart nomination from Passages North, and a Fiction Award from Intro to Journals. Work of hers has appeared in Ploughshares, Colorado Review, Florida Review, Gulf Coast, Willow Springs, Crab Orchard Review, The Pinch and many others. Though predominantly publishing in fiction, Mirri has also written award-winning poetry and essays. She is a queer writer and tends towards literary fiction with an ecological bend, often featuring speculative or fantastical elements. She completed her MFA at Virginia Tech and is currently wrapping up her PhD at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Born in rural Iowa, Mirri comes from a Midwest background but has spent the majority of her adult life in Alaska. She is an avid long-distance runner and outdoors person. Her time in backcountry—both in Alaska and the Highlands—often influences her work. She is currently querying for a literary novel, young adult novel, and collection of short stories.
